Have you ever noticed how time drags when you're suffering over something: Just as time flies when you're happy or in love, nights become endless when you're in despair.
To help get through the rough times, re-adjust your view of what time is all about. Throughout God's Word we see God's perspective...how our entire lives are like grass which soon "withers and fades."
This could be frightening, except that the Apostle Paul applies the same principle to our troubles, to give us comfort. He says, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:17-18, NKJV).
Can you imagine Paul, who suffered beatings, shipwrecks, imprisonment and tortures beyond description, calling these "light afflictions?" Yet, that is exactly how he saw them, because he understood God's eternal timetable – and His purposes. Paul knew that these trials were nothing compared to the glory God has in store...
